NORTON, MA – Optima Synchro earned five medals at the 2017 East Zone Invitational on March 18-19, held at Wheaton College, with top 3 finishes from the trio of Xavia Banigan, Emma Diamantis, and Noelle Lee along with individual placements from Bonnie Li, Natalie Taylor, and Frida Vazquez-Gomez. OPTIMA Synchro continued to earn New England’s top spots in the competitive sport of synchronized swimming at the NESSA Championship this past weekend. OPTIMA sent 12 of their athletes from their 13-15 AG and Junior Teams to compete in the New England Synchronized Swimming Association’s Junior, Senior & 13-15 Age Group Championships on Saturday January 28 in Worcester, MA. In all, 68 swimmers from 5 teams across New England competed at the event and Optima captured First Place in the Junior Free Combo, Junior Team, Junior Duet, Junior Solo, and Junior Figures events. Optima Synchro, a competitive synchronized swim team based in the Merrimack Valley area, kicked off the season by earning 15 top finishes at the New England Figure Invitational, hosted at Wheaton College on November 20, 2016.
Optima Synchro, a synchronized swimming team that represents the Merrimack Valley, competed in Mesa, Arizona at the U.S. National Championships this past week. More than 350 swimmers from all over the country were vying for national titles. Optima Synchro, led by head coach Svetlana Malinovskaya, earned a total of 2 gold medals, 3 bronze medals, and 2 fourth-place finishes at this prestigious competition. The swimmers competed for titles in figures, solo, duet, team and combo.
Schroeder Named to National Team 1
Another outstanding accomplishment at the U.S. National Championships was Optima swimmer Lindi Schroeder being officially named to the U.S. 13-15 National Team 1. Being selected for Team 1 means Schroeder will be representing the United States at the Mediterranean Cup in Netaya, Israel July 21-24. Head coach Svetlana Malinovskaya was also chosen as the team consultant for 13-15 National Team 1.
