Svetlana began her coaching career in 1997 at the School of Synchronized Swimming of Olympic Reserve in Minsk, Belarus. After immigrating to United States she started working as an Assistant Coach for the New Canaan Aquianas. In 2007 Svetlana was appointed Head Coach of ANA Synchro in Andover, Massachusetts. Here she built the largest team in the US and among her many achievements she was the only Head Coach in the team’s history to develop three National Team athletes at the 11-12 age group level, at Age Group Nationals coach a top 3 finish for 2 solos and 2 trios at the 11-12 and 18-19 age group level, and coach a top 10 finish for team competition in the 11-12, 13-15, 16-17 and 18-19 age group. Svetlana additionally led the team to win New England Senior High Point Trophy six times and East Zone Junior High Point Trophy twice in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, she founded Optima Synchro and the team has become one of the most acclaimed synchronized swimming teams in New England.
Svetlana was trained at the College of the Olympic Reserve in Minsk, Belarus. She started to compete in 1985 and very soon progressed to competitions on regional and then to the state and international level. As a Republic of Belarus national team member (1988-1999), Svetlana was eleven times National Team Champion, eight time National duet champion, and two time National solo champion. Svetlana also represented Belarus internationally at the International Swimming Federation World Championship and European Championships. She won gold medals at Open Cups in Greece (1992) and Poland (1993), a silver medal in the European Cup in Poland (1994) and a bronze medal in the Open Cup in Germany (1995). As an international champion Svetlana was awarded the Master of Sports of the USSR as recognition of her elite athlete status and her skill, talent and commitment in the sport of Synchronized Swimming. In 1996 she graduated from Belarus State University of Physical Education with a Bachelor degree; Teacher of Physical Education – Swimming Trainer.
Svetlana’s passion is coaching Synchronized Swimming but more importantly she enjoys helping young athletes to develop confidence, teamwork and life skills.
